Spa 2 Go Portable Spa with Micro Jets / B000A0A3WKbr /br /(Note: I originally purchased the ASIN #B000VGFEPE, but this is the same product, different seller, it seems.) br /br /I was really wary about purchasing this spa. Sure, it looks good enough online, but how often have I ordered something online, sight-unseen, and then been totally disappointed when it finally showed up? However, I have recurring back pain from scoliosis and the only things that really work for my pain are deep massages and heat treatment. A home spa seemed cheaper and more practical than continuing my weekly trips to a chiropractor, but the majority of "portable" spas online weighed hundreds of pounds, or came in eight or nine molded plastic pieces that had to be fitted together. I'm dubious regarding my ability to assemble a spa, and I can't lift extremely heavy objects, so this seemed like the best option for me. Especially since I live in an apartment and may wish to move in a year or two - I couldn't buy a spa that I would never be able to move again once it was set up in place. Plus, this spa was much cheaper than anything else I looked at online, and the company had a good return policy, and it was through Amazon. So I swallowed my worries and went ahead with the purchase. br /br /I tried not to get my hopes up, and figured I'd probably end up being disappointed, but when the spa arrived a week later, I ended up being absolutely blown away at how unexpectedly great this product is! br /br /First of all, the assembly is incredibly easy. You don't need to go buy an air pump - everything you need is included here. The spa has three large "inner tubes" that are blown up to form the spa wall. The bottom of the spa is also blown up with the air pump. After that, you hook up the spa heater/agitator, fill with water (you will need your own hose), and plug in. It's really that simple. The instructions which came with the spa are great, really well-written, and include photographs for every step. The instructions tell you when to plug in the spa, how long to agitate the water for the first time before adding any spa chemicals, and so on. It took us about 15-30 minutes to set this up the first time, and the bulk of that time was just waiting for the spa to fill up with water. I'm also incredibly impressed with the thickness of the inner-tube plastic and the sturdiness of the fabric cover - this thing is built to last, as far as I can tell. br /br /Speaking of chemicals, this spa comes with a filter, but not with any chemicals, so you do have to order chemicals (and any replacement filters) separately. I ordered the Spa Combo Care Kit and am happy with it, but that's another review. br /br /Secondly, as for the spa itself, I'm really impressed at how comfortable and elegant the design is. The water can be heated to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, which is more than enough for my needs. There aren't any raised "seats" in the spa, like the ones you see in the molded plastic spas, but the spa is extremely comfortable to sit in. I had worried that I would feel like I was sitting too close to the ground or that my weight would mean that when I sat on the inflatable "floor", I would feel the ground underneath, but this is not the case at all - sitting in this spa is even more comfortable than in a hard plastic spa, because the inflatable tubes give plenty of support but also "give" very slightly under your weight so that it doesn't dig into your skin the way plastic would. br /br /I also especially like the spa agitators. The agitator action occurs around the wall of the spa, at the lower back level, and the agitation feels like a million little massages on my back all at once. Very relaxing after a long day, and perfect for my scoliosis pain. For those who don't like agitation, though, the spa is very warm and comfortable even without it. I can stretch out with my head resting on the top of the spa wall and my feet touching the opposing spa wall (I am 5'4") and just let the warmth ease into every joint. Some reviewers online have stated that the air agitation action lowers the spa temperature, but I haven't noticed this happening, and the spa thermometer seems to bear this out. I have noticed that after being in a spa for awhile, your body adjusts to the temperature and it no longer feels as scalding as when you first stepped in, so I wonder if this is what they are observing? It's currently summer here in the American Southwest, so I'll try to update this review later on in the fall/winter if I notice any problems with maintaining spa temperature. So far, though, so very good. (Update: Based on further observation and close watch on the spa thermometer, I feel fairly safe in saying that the spa temperature does drop 1 degree for every 15-30 spent with the agitator running. This means that if you keep the spa at 104 degrees and go in for an hour, the spa temperature will drop to 100 degrees. This is still fairly warm, but it is something to note for people who would prefer constant temperature.) br /br /Thirdly, when the spa is not in use, there is an inflatable "bladder" that sits on the water and helps to maintain the spa temperature (and also helps to keep out those pesky bugs), plus a space-foil lined, fabric cover to secure over the bladder. The cover has elastic snaps which snap easily into place to stay snuggly on, and the snaps have extra safety locks which can be utilized if there are children in the area to worry about. The cover is extremely easy for an adult to secure or remove within a matter of seconds, but I believe would present quite a challenge to a child, which I think is a fine safety feature. I think I will buy a small pool skimmer to skim off the occasional bug or leaf that gets into the spa while in use, and I need to mark on my calendar to check the chemical levels and hose the filter off once a week, but the spa seems to be relatively low maintenance so far, for a great deal of positive value in return. br /br /I highly recommend this spa as an affordable, easy-to-assemble, portable alternative to the other models out there. I'm certain that those other models are probably very nice and probably offer other options for other people, but this spa is definitely perfect for my needs and I'm very happy that I purchased it. br /br /(UPDATE: I've had the spa for several months now and I can add a few more tidbits. Firstly, it is incredibly easy to move - I moved out of the apartment and it wasn't difficult at all to move and set up the spa at the new house. br /br /Secondly, I can confirm what another reviewer said about the spa cover being suseptible to sun damage - the cover is a bit faded, but I've placed the spa in some shade now and that helps. However, I kept the "bladder cover" too tightly inflated and the cloth cover was stretched and the inner foil lining broke. It was my own stupidity that caused it, but it is about $60 to replace the cover, so I thought I'd warn everyone. br /br /Thirdly, I can honestly say that the spa has done wonders for my back. I sit in the spa every night for 20 minutes and I've seen a huge difference in my mobility and a much lower pain. I'm totally thrilled.)

5 out of 5 stars Great Spa! Great Price!   September 28, 2008
As always seller through Amazon do very well.br /It arrived in a timely manner.br /It was easy to set up, good instructions, barely needed them.br /Very quite, lots of bubbles and plenty of soothing turbulence as a result.br /The timer is just right, it's hard to stay in much longer.br /Plenty warm, we keep ours at 100 degrees, that's plenty. When you feel the air bubbles they do feel cool, it a property of air touching wet skin. Even hot air feels cool. [...]We bought it for our 6 year old who has a severe double scoliosis and this spa has helped tremendously in relaxing the muscles to aid in her treatment. It does an equally fine job on her mom and dad too :)br /Well worth the money, I recommend setting it up inside the garage that worked best for us and we have year round use of it.

1 out of 5 stars Not this one.   August 28, 2008

Installed 8/07. Well, it is easy to put together but:br /br /1. Holes in nylon shell do not line up properly with inflation ports in vinyl liner. br /br /2. Power Pack/filter assembly had to be replaced because it constantly tripped the GFCI. (was still under warranty) br /br /3. After replacement, bubbles worked for a while then not at all.br /br /4. Noisy and loses heat very quickly when turbo did work for bubbles.br /br /5. Nylon shell began to disintegrate. Tub was stored until spring when new shell was purchased. br /br /6. One of the two tubes that goes from the tub to the power pack/filter became unglued, spewing water. (7/08)br /br /7. The sun's heat (we live in eastern San Diego county - temperatures between 90 - 100 + degrees from May to October) seems to have caused the vinyl of the liner to stretch in a strange fashion causing the top ring to become lopsided.br /br /8. Water will not remain in the filter housing chamber, even after "bleeding".br /br /9. Uses a lot of electricity, original advertising claimed "only as much electricity as a light bulb" (this claim is not on any information any longer)br /br /Would NOT recommend this spa.

1 out of 5 stars Save Your Money A Total Waste Does Not Last A Season   June 25, 2008

Purchased this product and had problems right out the box and had to have several replacements sent with no success in keeping this working at all..5 power packs so far and it still does not work. This motor is not strong enough to cope with what its expected to do. Water does not go above 96 in cooler weather and takes a full week to get to that temp and the blower blows cold air into tub so the tub gets cold really fast. After blowing up the tub liner it distributes the air uneven and all on the one side which distorts the tub a lot and was told this is a fault they see often...not kidding! The worst customer service you could imagine and customer complaints are all over the Internet regarding this company. After replacing your part they will then demand an $89.00 fee to ship out another part. Check with the BBB and see a list of complaints regarding this company and their product. Save your money on this until they decide to bring out a larger more powerful motor this will not last a season. Great idea if it worked but I wasted $800 not to mention laying a concrete foundation to place this on and all my chemicals to use it. Funny thing I keep noticing are complaints filed on websites selling this item end up miraculously disappearing so wonder if this one will remain here and if I could give this no stars I would.

1 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!!   June 12, 2008

We purchased the Spa-N-A-Box nearly 2 yrs ago and have had to replace the power pack/motor at least 5 times. They offer a warranty, however, their free shipping offer for a replacement pack is only good for 30 days. We have had to pay their $89 shipping charge 3 times even though the power pack was less than 3 months old. Now I was told that the error message on our power pack we paid for shipping on just 30 days ago, En1, indicates hard water damage which is not covered under their warranty, even though this same error message appeared on a previous power pack, for which they honored their warranty even though we were forced to pay the $89 shipping fee to replace it. Refurbished power packs are $250, new packs are $450, approx. Neither work better than the other. Too much trouble and money for what you get. I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
